Question Looking for opinions on aftermarket exhausts

    Hi people,

The original exhaust on my 03 plate 1.8 coupe was rusty when I purchased it a year and a half ago, but it was still gas tight so passed the MOT.

However, it has finally started to die, the first sign has been a bit of resonance on cold start up which is louder than normal!

My question is, what type of stainless steel exhaust do people recommend? I'm looking for a similar-to-standard tailpipe and a system that produces a mid-range sound (i.e. not too noisy but sporty note). My price range is about £250-£300.

How do people rate Powerflow for the Mk4? There is a good supplier and fitter near me but am open to suggestions.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Powerflow? I'll be polite and say I do not rate them at all.

I'd opt for either Magnex, Scorpion or Milltek.

Or if you can get an off the shelf one - Blueflame.

^ I have to say I had no problems with the Powerflow on my Corsa. Was custom made and made a nice sound - its just that it went rusty on the surface...

    Commenting on systems I've used:

Milltek on my zaf Gsi now, pretty well made, ecellent fit anf fitting kit nice note but louder than i hoped.

I've had 2 Scorpion systems and these are the best systems I've ever had in all respects.

Magnex, dissapointed with build, ease of fit and it felt as if it was restricting the car.

check out Sounds Of Silence in Falkirk.

I got a Cat Back System put on my 1.8 Astra just over a year ago

Quality is fantastic, workmanship is top notch and wasn't too noisy either!
