    has anyone fractured their heel?

Think i have, jumped off a wall two weeks ago and my heel still hurts

Might go to the hospital to have an xray soon, just wondered if anyone else has done this?

certainly is, you either break it completely and you'll have floating bits or you can fracture it. going to have an xray on it monday i think to check, really dont need this right now as i have to get fit and be able to run for the RAF tests that will be coming up soon

whatever you do don't tell the raf yet....

they require you to be "fit and free of existing injury" or something to that effect. When is your OASC or have they not picked you up from the post interview pool yet?

I wouldn't worry too much about the fitness tests - situps and pressups you obviously will be able to train for and do regardless of a heel fracture (how many are you up to in that all important minute out of interest?) and the bleep test only requires an 11 or a 12 iirc... beyond that they are more interested in effort than numbers. For anyone remotely healthy it's the rest of OASC that is a challenge, not the fitness tests. Obviously you want to train as much as possible and do as well as you can, but the fitness aspect is more vital for IOT....

ive no intention of telling them he picked up on a broken leg three years ago in my interview so shows how hot they are on it.

not got the letter confirming or a date yet

i could easily do 30-40 press ups and sit ups its only a level 9.1 on the fitness its just i cant run at this point in time im not 100% ive more than severly bruised it, wont be sure until i go to check it out i guess, i just dont like wasting doctors time and effort

no, the minimum is a 9.1 - you don't want to be anywhere near that minimum A score of 12 would be a good one to aim for, and it's not too hard tbh...

I wouldn't worry about it too much - Chances are OASC is a way off yet if you haven't recieved a date and you should have time to heal (no pun intended) if you stay off it. In the mean time you can maintain a good level of aerobic fitness by other means such as swimming or rowing or careful cycling, neither of which should impact the heel much.

I'm sure you'll be fine chap - good luck with it all.

Great actually... glad I chose to do what I did (at the moment anyway ). It's hard work but the flying is great, lifestyle is good and it's a beautiful place to be flying around too.
