    performance mods

i have a mk 1.6 8 valve but need a bit more power from it and was thinking of getting the following parts for it

    remus backbox
    remus centre section
hoffman sports cat and front pipe
    lexmaul manifold
    sports cams(eg. piper,kent)
    remap

would these make any great difference performance wise or would i be wasting my money ?

Personally I wouldn't do more than an air filter and exhaust on the old 8v. Theres just no point in spending vast sums of money to squeeze an extra few horses from it.

I would sooner sell up and swap it for some sort of 16v engined example. Will make more sense in the long run.

You're really gonna be thowing money away - dont get me wrong I dont have anything against the 8v - afterall I have one myself. As Sten says, u wanna be limiting yourself to induction and exhaust. Ive been looking at a Lexmaul myself but in all honesty im considering an engine transplant in the future so cant see the financial sense in it all.

Its all upto u of course.

two different replys hmm now im not sure which would be the best option. a 2.0 litre mk4 would be nice but i lost two years no claims from a crash last year so it would be pricey !

not as pricey as mine would be - trust me! im all for showing ppl the 8v aint a bag of shite and Im all for dabbling with DIY mods but tbh i dont think the mods u listed would be that beneficial.
Ok you'll get a fairly decent gain but it all depends if its all worth the hassle and costs. I say No...then again another part of me says go for it! lol
