Thumbs Up Mercedes CLK 320 TDi

I had the fortune to test drive one of these on friday and must say, I was impressed. 0 - 60 in just over 6 secs and in kickdown, there`s no way you`d think it was a diesel and gadgets everywhere ... nearly £40,000 tho

keep looking at this and i gota say sommat its not a tdi its a cdi (being picky sorry) and if it was the new v6 diesel you drove they are a fantastic engine and the quietest diesel engine merc make. my only gripe i have when workin on the new v6 is the centre single v mounted turbo makes life very awkward and hot. and ive never done glowplugs that are so awkward. if you want a nice car to drive in the later merc range you wanna try any cls as they drive lovely and you feel so safe and like a gangsta due to the high lines and small windows.
all you must do in life is beat all saxos and job sorted!

Nice car, nice engine and the most powerful diesel in its size (remember 2987cc) which is not far away from BMW in power output and torque and the BM engine is a whole 500cc larger. But if you think that has go you should try the 430 diesel engine in the M, GL, S it sounds like the 500 petrol but its torque is awesome (730nm) and boy does it shift. The CLK is due to be replaced in approx two years and the new model is well down the development line, but it has certainly aged well as far as cars go and can certainly compete with other coupes in its sector. Mind you it 40K price tag does get you a nice car though.

But Pete if you are impressed by the that engine the new one in development if it lives up to its promise will blow you away. Mind you they were hoping to debut some new gen deisel engines in the new C class (smaller capacity ones to replace the 200 and 220 engine derivatives) in March but I believe that they will follow later down the line. Andy the next generation of engines will be just as bad if not worse to work on.
