ive found 2" and 3" but not 2.5 the pipebenders are £80 and the pipes are £30 ish so thats cheaper than getting it done, plus i can then make cheap powerpipes for people or sell on the machine for a little less than i paid for it

    just finding 2.5" pipes!

The only problem with using this method is that the pipe gets compressed during the bending process. If you look at a standard exhaust where it has been bent in this way you will see what I mean. This will in turn restrict the flow of air through the intercooler.

The best type of bends to use are Mandril bends which keep the same diameter throughout the bend. you could buy some of these and get them welded together or connect them with hoses.

If you do want to go down the pipe bender route then you should be able to hire one for a day at about £30. If you go with Aluminium tube then it cannot be bent and will need to be welded or connected with hoses.

    Hope this makes sense

i can buy a pipe bender for £80 and use it whenever i want id prefer to do this with small dents where they been bent than fork out for someone else to do the work, had quotes for polished stainless steel for £25 a metre.

i could make powerpipes and all you'd need is a 63-50mm reducing pipe and or a striaght piece for the connections

ill let you know how i get on and thanks for the research Geoff

    over and out Andy

Interesting project. I have spent a fair while looking at various pipe sizes etc but the size I struggle to find (on ebay anyway) is 2.75" for the intercooler to top hat.
