    In or Bin??

    hey guys
got a speaker for xmas from my gf!! it was from the US so i dont wanna send it back there sending a new one soon, but im not sure if this can be fixed? there like screws jammed in the magnet and its not letting the speaker move as it pulls it and it has no bounce so there for no noise!

IF, and this is a big IF for a car speaker, the magnet is bolted onto the basket, then the spider (the bit over the voice coil) and the cone normally need to be removed to tighten the bolts back up and check the voice coil for damage. More than likely they've stripped anyway, so it would be a big repair and cost more than a new speaker. Most car subs have the basket rivetted to the magnet and can't be repaired. I used to use Fane subwoofers when I had a Nova with a big sound system and these were rebuildable, as they are the same drivers used in PA and nightclub systems. New, these drivers were about £400 apiece 10 years ago, but I used reconditioned units from Wembley Loudspeakers at £150 each.

I think you'd be better binning that driver and getting a new one I'm afraid. Audiobahn kit is very nice and bling, but not the best stuff out there IMO.
