    4x4 VXR

why do vauxhall not put a vxr 4x4 into production? surely they would have a lot more buyers than the current front wheel drive? also do you think performance could be boosted from having 4 wheel drive?

i think they would loose performance from making it 4x4.

But would be a good idea.

    simply its not cost effective.

Raise in cost which will make it too much money for a vauxhall astra, and then it would also need a rise in power to make it worth while.

Its just not viable, unless of course ford, vw, seat, audi etc all have one and vauxhall dont

as mat said really the price hike to offset the research and development costs would make it an astra with a to big price tag!

the only rival it would have would be the S3 really and the quattro system, but no body is going to pick an astra with a new 4x4 system over a much better built audi with a proven 4x4 system!

GM did have a stake in Subaru (8.7%) for a while, which might have been useful for 4x4 technology, but they sold that on to Toyota
