    Steering wheel control question

Hi guys I have a pioneer stereo and I have just bought the auto leads adaptor to make my steering wheel controls work my stereo. The only thing that doesnt happen is when I turn on my lights the steering wheel contol lights dont light up anymore. Any ideas how I can patch a lead from the stereo maybe to make it work?

The steering wheel controls are lite up fromt he electric aerial output of the headunit rather than the lights being on

Have you connected the blue wire from the headunit up?

No just plug the 2 blue wires together and the lights will come on (this is on the pioneers looms)

The blue wire also powers up the booster in the aerial

Right I thought as im taking the stereo out I might aswell make it worth my while so I bought myself an Ipod Adaptor. I thought that the Iso connector would carry the power but it obviously doesnt as it also has a power connector. My thought is just to piggy back the stereo power? is this ok to do?

Yeah and it's exactly what i'd do

You will find that the power for the ipod adaptor will have a male bullet connector on it that will plug into the yellow fly lead on the headunits wiring harness

I got the stereo from America so it didnt come with the standard wiring block so I had to make my own by putting 2 together which works ok. I think I will have to solder the connections together. Il cross that bridge on the weekend when I have some light and time.

Where would you put the Ipod in the glove box or in the compartment on the right hand side?

And im going to ask this but im not holding out much hope. As this stereo is from america the fm tuner doesnt tune odd numbers I dont suppose you know if there is a Firmware patch or something to correct this? ohh its a Pioneer 9800BT

I have heard of problems with the ipod in enclosed spaces as it over heats. Now i've only heard of this once and have fitted them there since so see no prolem with it. I think personally i'd have it in the drivers side compartment

Sorry I know no way of getting your headunit to do both odd and even on the radio
