    buying first astra

im goin to look at an astra on wednesday, because im thinking about buying one. its a 2.0 sri 3dr (mk4, but cant remember milage. something like 2000 and 70k miles i think). i think its been lowered and has uprated brakes too, as well as an irmsher grille. makes me think it might have been given a bit of a raggin. is there anything i should look out for? any signs of wear and tear etc?

    thanks for the input. lol

anyway, is a 2.0 a good enough choice? they seem to be popular, although maybe i'd rather have a 1.8.

Wear and tear is really the same as any engine. check how it looks (ie if its in clip then you'll know its not been looked after) and how it drives, just the usual with any car.
iirc there's not a lot of difference performance wise between the 1.8 and the 2.0. People are constantly praising the 2.2 or the 2.0turbo (Z20LET).
Astra SRi's are lowered 20mm as a factory setting so it will look like it has been lowered when it may not necessarily have been. I've actually lowered my car on SRi springs.

Hope this is a bit of help for you mate

Bye bye VXR Castle Combe Edition - because it's done more laps of Castle Combe than most Bergs have of the Ring

    Hello Mike.

    I'd go for the 2.0.

Not sure what to look for to be honest, perhaps someone could brief you!
