    Sky+ cheaper than usual...

Was wanting sky+ plus for home but was not willing to pay the £99 for the box and £60 for installation so.... after being advised on what to say...

"Welcome to Sky, how can I help you?"

"I would like to cancel my Sky subscription"

"OK. I will have to go through some details. Why are you looking to cancel?"

"Because I have taken up a few new hobbies and am not in to watch the programs I would like to watch"

"Would Sky+ be beneficial to you?"

"Yes, but I have been a customer for nearly 6 years so do not feel I should pay for it, besides, I cannot really afford it....."

"Would you be willing to stay with sky if we did the Sky+ box for £49 with free installation?"

    "Eh, yes. "

So.... worth a shot if you are wanting Sky+. I think I could have manged to get it for free if I had tried, but was happy paying £49. My box is now as old as my sky system and they do not last forever, and I get a new satellite dish, so all is good IMO.

that is worth trying I would prefer it for free though, but like you say its worth the £49 for the new box and dish as mine are old as well, and if they break its a £60 charge to fix them unless you pay there insurance.

Might give them a call in the morning Thanks

If you phone them up and say you don't feel you are getting value for money and want to cancel it they will offer you 3-6 months half price, when that's up, do it again. Bloke at work has been doing it for 2 years, the last time they turned round and said ok then that'll be disconnected on this date. A week later they phoned him up and said, would you condsider keeping sky if we give you a further 6 months half price? Worth doing.

Its the same as most things these days though.

Well, as the price is uaually £99 plus £60 installation, £49 is cheap, no matter what anyone says.

And freeview is pants. Sky has so many more channels!

just a thought but if you do go for sky+ does that lock you into a deal for 12 months? If so if you want sky HD does that mean you will not be able too?

    just thinking allowed..

It is a 12 month contract, but you can get sky+ and HD together, or maybe upgrade to HD later within the 12 months?
