    Mk4 speaker set up

as standard, the front doors in a mk4 have a tweeter and a woofer yeah, and the rear quarters have a coaxial is that right?

Doe the front doors have a built in crossover somewhere, and could i swap the woofer for a midrange, and the rears for midrange? Would that work?

The factory set up puts full range through the bottom woofer and a crossover built into the tweeter, rear just does full range

There would be a crossover built into the comp set to split the right frequencies then ide adjust the head unit crossover to around 50-80Hz (personal preference).

if i got a 3 way component kit instead of a 2 way, i could mount the mids in the rear quarters, and just run the wire from the crossover along the sill couldn't i?

a 3 way component kit would be just the ticket, would it not?

You could, but then the rear speakers would have the signal meant for the front speakers? Why not get a set of 2 way components for the front, and a pair of coaxials for the rear? All the crossovers needed will come with the speakers.
