This may appear a strange question, but Iím interested to know peoples thoughts when moving from 205 to 215 wide tyres. The things Iím interested in the noticeable effect on tramlining, and steering response etc.
Iím planning on fitting 17Ē coupe turbo wheels in anthracite, and this is purely a cosmetic move, Iím not expecting any performance increase. I also want to keep using F1 GSD3ís and the closest match is either 215/40 or 215/45. Unfortunately 204/45 is not an option with the F1ís.
Currently Iím running 205/50/16ís, I also have koniís / eibachís and whiteline rear ARB. Drive is firm but not harsh, no tramlining, lots of grip especially in wet, steering response is good. What I donít want to do is move to 215 and have high tramlining, or dull the steering response, a small amount of each is acceptable however.
Iím interested to hear from anyone whoís had an mk4/coupe and moved from 205 to 215. I know plenty have moved from standard smaller size tyres, to bigger performance tyres, but Iím already starting with the tyre Iím going to move to. Comparing a 195 Pirelli P6000 to a 215 Yoko Parada is not a pure comparison and is more about the rubber than the footprint. Hope you see where Iím coming from with the last bitÖ
Cheers in advance.
