Question Front brake options for a 1.6 "G"

    Howdy,

Front discs and pads are just about shot on my Astra. It's a 1999 1.6 16V vintage with the standard 15" alloys for a Club. Just wondering what my options are for replacement/mild upgrade. VX have quoted £163 fitted for straight replacements. I don't need anything too lairy, just something with a better pedal feel and improved performance. Not interested in bling. Also, any recommendations for fitting in the Wigan or Preston areas would be welcome.

I am a noob, so be gentle

    Cheers!
    Alex

    Hello Alex,

I haven't seen you around before welcome.

Anyway down to business. As Vaux supplied the plod force with cars I believe there is a police pad out there. Use the search button and you'll find the part numbers. Just order them at vaux and you'll get yourself a half decent pad without paying major amounts. Also the discs are very cheap usually from vaux??? I suggest talking to them again. If I Recall Correctly about £40 for the discs.

    Good luck

i paid 50 quid for a pair of discs from halfords and 25 for standard pads, that was a sunday though! lol,
    try the police pads!
As for your price quoted, a large amount of that will be for labour.
V6 cavalier brakes i believe go on but think they are 5 stud? not too sure maybe somebody will confirm
