fill it mate then give it a sand, and then a prime

think i used metalink (halfords sell it) for mine - then sanded with 240, then 800, then 1500, then another small coat of the filler and sanded again. etch primer it, then paint and laquer
Oooh, does look a bit nasty that top gouge. As said, I would be inclined to build up the ding with some of that chemical metal type stuff (not tried that metal link stuff) as you don't want filler too near the edge of the rim for the tyre fitters to knock out.
As you have the tyre off the wheel, make sure you get the primer,base and lacquer coats wrapped nicely around the back of the rim for lasting un-flakiness.
