    So, how do I get around this?

    I took my cdr-500 out today (which is now for sale btw) to replace with my alpine.

    but the connector for the car looks ike this:



    but my apline connector looks like this




    can i buy a converter or something for it?

    should be able to get an adaptor. try autoleads through halfrauds or online, they usually have an adaptor avaialble for evyrthing

    There shoud be a connector that came with the headunit that plugs into that

    Yeah you need the Iso adaptor loom. Is the Alpine unit brand new or 2nd hand? Every headunit i have bought so far has come with a loom.

    yup /\/\ you'll need an ISO harness that plugs into the industry standard plugs on the car (ISO) and into the HU at the other end.

    Should have come supplied with the stereo - if not Halfords should be able to sort u out - or Autoleads direct.

    will look like this


    ** Just remember to swap round the yellow & red leads on the harness as Vx wire up the accessory feed different to most other manufacturers... If u dont, then you will lose all radio presets when ignition switched off

    ok thanks, I got it last year for xmas so I doubt i still have the thingy.

    How much am I looking at for the adapter from halfrauds? cost me £4.50 for two bits of metal yesterday to get the head unit out :@

    official price is circa £19.99 - units on ebay for less than a tenner or so - iirc i paid about £14 from Halfords in the past

    if its a 16 pin ISO connector then theres a good un on ebay at the mo with only minutes left - might be worth a stab (also sells extra lots at same price as winning bid)
