    wings and bonnet differences!

I had a set of lmf bonnet gas struts on my mk4 1.8 sri and i went to swap them over onto my mk4 sri turbo and they dont fit?

when you go to close the bonnet it leaves a gap that you can stick your fingures in which really does nothing for the cosmetics of the car lol.
The bracket that you bolt onto the bonnet hinge hits the inside of the wing when the bonnet is shut making this gap. i have ground down the bracket as much as possible and changed the hole size so that i could move it in or out and this still makes no difference!

Anyone any ideas why this is?

The only thing i can think of is that the wings or the bonnet is slighty different from the sri to the sri-t

would there be a difference from a 3 to and 5 door as the sri was a 5 door?

    cheers kev

i have this problem on the coupe.. its the top knuckle at the bonnet strut that sticks out 2mm to far.. you need to either take a small notch out the inside of the wing to allow the knuckle to go down correctly or file as much away on the actual knuckle as you can and this should solve the problem

i have a few pictures at home i think.. i will look them out later when im finished work for you

it might be that the bonnet has slipped slightly while putting them on. especially if its only happening on one side. loosen up the bonnet hinge and slide the bonnet over a tad, then do up and check, repeat if nessesary.

the bonnet aint moved as i took one bolt out at a time and i seems that the ridge in the middle of the inner part of the wing that is the problem.
