    Vauxhall Service!

Just booked my car for its first service since i have owned it as i woke up this moring and it came up insp on the dash so it will be in this wednesday for servise number 4 at 9am, which will be costing me £230.00 .

will i have to ask them to give me a list of things that they may find wrong with (nothing i hope) or do they do this anyway?

Is the car ok to be driven until then or not?

Just cos INSP came up doesnt mean an inspection is due.

What's the mileage and is a service actually due at this mileage ???

If not, then remove the INSP light yourself - insert key - press mileage trip button, keep pressed whilst turning key to ignition - dont start it! keep held in for a few seconds - light will flash then INSP will be removed

the last service was done at 39,000 its now on 53,700, it has been a year since the last service?

could it just be a minor fault as the car drives the same as before?

just because your car is due a service doesnt mean there is anything "wrong" with it. a service is just replacing the consumable parts of a car... oil filter, oil, spark plugs (as they wear) air filter as they get clogged etc etc... just to keep the engine as clean as needed inside... 14,500 give or take, i would say its worth getting a service, but not neccesarily needed...
and the car is 99% ok to drive untill its been serviced, as long as your not going roundd the world a couple of times...

(i say 99% just to defend myself if something goes wrong, but if it does it will be due to another fault not because its due a service.)

i had a service bout mid of may and it cost me £900, apparently my disc on drivers rear had stuck so needed new breaks front and back with pads, then funny enuf they found my water pump was leakin that was weird cos i only tookit there 3 weeks previous to get in looked at and they said nothing wrong with it, my insp lite didnt come, not even for a split sec,

just go by the service book mate alot easier and safer

The service inteverals are 20k... but it is recommended to have a oil/filter service every 5k. But the service will only be things like oil, filter(s), spark plug changes, etc. They may replace some fluids like brake fluid and coolant.

Other things like brakes, etc are not included in the service although garages will recomend that you change/fix certain things if required.

I don't get it. Maybe that's because I've never seen it? lol

I know of two lights. The one with the spanner through the centre of the car (engine management?) and the other one, which I believe is engine electronics? It's not either of them is it?
