    astra mk4 - service fun

Sent the car in for a service today,

due to me doing the garage a few favours with the computer problems only cost me for parts today,

full service + Fan Belt replaced in total cost me £60

Unfortunately they have said i need ot get cam belt replaced and they recommend that the pulleys be replaced too.

Booked it in on saturday they have said it gonna cost £120!!

    does that seem reasonable.

Checked car history and cam hasnt been replaced in the last 70 thousand miles.

    cheers

    nick

1.7 Turbo diesels definatley a belt.

I would have thought the 40,000 mile life span that petrol engine belts have would appy to this engine too.

£120 is a good price for the full kit to be fitted.

when i had my cam belt done on my zafira, it costed me £198 all in, so £120 is cheap in my eyes.

Vauxhall have stated, for many years, that the recommended change interval for cambelts is 40,000 miles or 4 years REGARDLESS of information printed in Service Booklets.

It's scandalous that any Vauxhall dealer quotes anything different, but it doesn't surprise me.
