    Removing Rear-View Mirror

as above - is it supposed to be removable??

I don't want to remove it permanently but have the remains of a WalesRallyGB car pass welded to the glass and need to get to it to give it some elbow grease

Thought I'd be clever and put it where it wouldn't obstruct my view - now I feel silly.

Ahhh just remembered its not quite that simple....

Theres two different types of interior rear view mirror. The original just slides straight off its mounting point with no messing. The newer 'uprated' version has a sleeve over the mounting which needs to be pulled down a bit to reveal the sliding bit, then you can just push it down towards the bottom of the screen....if that makes sense at all.

Anybody know a scrappy in Reading area - I need a new rear view mirror

I pulled it down towards the bottom of the screen and the ball pulled out of the socket pretty easily - all good I thought.

Then when I went to refit it - the socket part (in the mirror bit) has a split right up the edge of the cup and it now won't hold the mirror on
