Anyone tried this out?
apparently microsoft have now finished RTM, for release in january.
only hearing good things about it now!
Windows Vista has been released mate. I have the final version on my works laptop (Business Enterprise Edition).
Everyone seems to think its a huge jump from XP to Vista like it was from 98 to 2000 but ... I dont think it is. I still think its XP in a new shell with some bits bolted on. It doesnt have WinFS and loadsa other stuff it was meant to ship with.
btw RC2 (Release Candidate 2) was only released to a few select companies etc RC1 was released to a wider audience.
Yeb as Scott said, Vista has been released ( althought it will only start appearing on systems late January )...
Its very cool but make sure you have a decent system before giving it a go as its very Hungry.. Requirements - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvist...y/capable.mspx
Mr Sploodge, Accept No Imitations!
Oh aye forgot to mention, if u wanna see the "Real" Windows Vista then u need a graphics card with DirectX 9 capabilities. Otherwise the Aero stuff wont work and it'll look like XP lol
don't think i'll be upgrading to this for a long long while...i only just starting using XP about a year ago!! was using windows 2000 all that time before as it was very stable
£369.99 for the Ultimate version (The top version, like XP Pro was)Originally Posted by Coady
Unless you have an Nvidia Geforce 8800 series card then you'll be running DirectX 9EX as you wont be able to run DirectX 10 which imo is one of the main reasons people will upgrade to Vista.
Geforce 8800 - £300+
M$ have worked it well with the hardware companies to get more money off ya, also unless u have a Creative X-Fi card then EAX sounds wont work on Vista with either Live!, Audigy 1,2 or 4 cards.
i'm using it and cant fault it yet. Running an ATI gfx card and the aero seems to work fine.
Astra VXR - Arden Blue, Diamond cut 19's, Cruise Control, Debaged, Folding Mirrors, CD70 NAVI and CID + Aux-In, Factory Bluetooth, Piano Black Interior Trim, Full Milltek Unresonated Exhaust
It's prob either a 900x series or a 1000x series.Originally Posted by rizo
I just think its a bit much to ask in terms of price and means if u want DX10 etc u need to upgrade ur graphics card (Nvidia 8800 series and ATI dont have one out yet).
I'll prob wait until SP1 is released before I put it on my home PC & Laptop.
