My first mod: air induction kit

As title suggests, I want to buy an induction kit. I have basic knowledge of what they do, but I've no idea which are the good ones etc. So please help, this is for a 1.8 sport.

Also, which are the best sites for modding parts?

    Help would be much appriciated

Check the How To section for how to derestrict your airbox and put a Veccy C Intake pipe on.

Thats what most of us 1.8 owners do due to heatsoak with induction kits like K&N etc..

EDIT: And much cheaper around £13.95 iirc

no you wouldn't, best induction kit to get is an enclosed one as this will stop heat soak. Something like the Viper or BMC kit.

its your engine taking in its own warm air.

idea of a cone filter would be to get maximum air flow to the engine

however only cold air is really good for your engine, if your filter is taking in warm air you will see no performance increase, therefore wasting your money on a big cone filter.

keeping your airbox, desresticting it and adding a bigger intake to it, would be a lot better for your car, as it wont take in warm air and you will see a noticeable difference in throttle response with the addition of a panel filter, such as a k&n or pipercross

Can i just hijack for a second..........................

Am i right in thinking then that rather than an induction kit its better to do the veccy c pipe, de restrict the air box and put a panel filter on?

Yeah I think thats what he's saying.

I'll derestrict it tomorrow, look for a c pipe at a scrappy. What does a panel filter do?
