    Wastegate chatter!!

Bought my sri turbo about 2 months back and the previous owner had removed the original airbox and fitted an induction kit.

After checking out many threads regarding the removal of the airbox causing the standard dump valve to be more "vocal", if I was to put a standard airbox back on or fit a 2.2 airbox, will the chatter noise disappear or would it still be heard?

Any advise would be very much appreciated

wastegate chatter isn't good for turbo cars and if you can actually here it then its the turbo stalling, which aint good unless its being used in a WRC car or the like and being replaced regularly

Thats the first time ive heard that if you can hear the wastegate chatter there must be a problem with the turbo!

i hear loads of gsi and sri's driving about with the same noise, so unless everyone is having problems with their turbos i guess the chatter is fine. Went to regal sport for a phase 1 tune-up few weeks back and they never said anything about the wastegate chatter. Most say its louder when you replace the original airbox with induction kit

The induction kit will make the dump valve sound louder and more turbo spool (whizz)
