Angry Once Again Wheel Fell Off!!

    http://www.m1gst.com/vb/showthread.p...ght=wheel+fell

that happened to my car, and after fixing it, the ball joint has sheared off again on the same wheel!!!!!

this obviously cant just be coicidence so what could be the matter with that side of the suspension which is eating ball joints?

thinking of maybe just fixing it and selling the car .

    any ideas?

No - it's a techincial issue and you'll get a better, more accurate response in the correct forum. That's why we have them!!

You could help by giving a bit more info on how the car was repaired - new or second hand parts - if new were they gen VX? who did the work?

i doubt that just because the balljoint wasnt made from GM steel, it sheared of after 2k miles usage!

i bought the part of ebay if this was so many others would be complaining also.

is your friend a qualified mechanic? maybe he made a simple silly mistake?

if you want the problem sorted once and for all get vaux to do it, if it breaks again can always take it back and say... only had this done etc etc etc its the third time etc etc etc..

not many mistakes to be made when screwing a bolt together relli, its a balljoint being held by a clamp....nothing else

Bit of a mystery this. Did you replace just the ball joint or the wishbone and ball joint combined?

It could be just a coincidence, maybe the ball joint wasn't perfect when it was replaced and it would have gone sooner or later, or it could be there's another fault causing the ball joints to shear. As the ball joint is really only a pivot point what could be causing it stress? maybe there is excessive play somewhere else in the steering/damping on that side of the car. Does it make any noises when going round corners or up/down bumps? is everything tight, not sure on the ball joint fitting procedure without consulting my Haynes but was it fitted without any grease being used?

2K ain't far for it to snap, I'd be inclined to think there's an underlying fault somewhere which you need to identify, either that or your just unlucky.

i fixed it last time, the parts were of good quality, leads me to think theres a problem with the hub from the first time it snapped?? its holding uneven strain on the balljoint shaft which is causing it to sheer off so soon????
