Just look around, i got a pair of trousers made by trespasser for £25 on sale.
The best advice ive been given is
Buy boots and binding at the same time from the same place buy the same maker.
    AND
Never use your own board on dry slopes.
Ive only had 2 boarding leassons this year (slope is 1 1/2 hrs away in devon )But boarding is sweet but i need to get a grass board from argos to practice.
BTW have fun in cannada, my dad says the slopes are sweet.
    Hes some insperation. http://www.geocities.com/ajb2k305/snbd.html

top one is rubbish: buy the boots that fit you and your needs the best regardless.... and buy the bindings that hold your choice of boot the most securely and comfortably for the price you can afford. Generally it;s a good idea to buy all the lot at once because there's room for deals and haggling.

some of the nicest setups I have used have had different brand boards, bindings and boots.

the second however is most true, a dry slope will destroy your nice board.

here's one of my more funky pics (shame it's rubbish quality capture from a video)

but anyway, I fear this thread has diverged from what he wanted to know... clothing wise you will want goggles (don't need to pay more than £20-30 for a good pair), a good pair of gloves (important! cheap out on these and you'll regret it... cheapo's take ages to dry out, don't keep your hands particularly warm, and get ripped to shreds). A nice pair of snowboarding trousers, and a smock/jacket are obviously on the list, and incredibly important again - a few pairs of GOOD snowboarding socks... expect these to be around £8-12 a pair, but it's worth it.

You can pay anything from not a lot to many many dollaz for this stuff, but i'd recommend not cheaping out on the stuff i pointed out. This isn't to say you can't find bargains though, most of my stuff is top name but i bought for massively reduced price. My Animal snowboard trousers were reduced from £100 to £40 for example!

    Just like my tresspasser.
The slope i use is a dry slope but its cousioned and covered in water but the trouser kept out the water proving that good gear is worth every panny (cents for you americans).
