    Best Alloy Wheel Cleaner??

    Hi,

I was just wondering if someone could recommend the best alloy wheel cleaner? My coupe turbo wheels could do with a good clean.

    Thanks,

    Rik

I find the Meguiars hot rims really good...

Spray on , leave for 15secs hose off...of for dirty dirty rims, just rub it in then hose off.

Hot Rims is good stuff, There is also a product called Megs Wheel Brightner, this stuff has to be diluted with water and it smells really nice! lol

I used to use Wonder Wheels, and the little brush you get with that is really handy for getting all the dirt off!

Please dont use wheel acid!!! best thing for wheel acid is the bin. Yes it may get your wheels clean but think what you are doing to them.

Wheel acid eats through the lacquer and will destroy your rim.

Hot rims is a safe option.

Best option I have foundis to possibly use a cleaner (Hot rims / such like non-acid based cleaner) and then wheel wax your wheels from then on all you will have to do is use a stronger mix of car shampoo and a soft bristle wheel brush.

I somtimes also use Megs / poorboys APC (all purpose cleaner) if there is stubburn brake dust etc.

Before i knew anything about detailing i used to use wonder wheels and such like acid based cleaners.

yes they clean wheels great but 12months down the line i wondered by lacquer was pealing off and rims had white burnt in marks on them.

I would only ever used acid based cleaner as a last resort.
