    calling all wheels guru's!!

    hello all,

i am looking to buy some new alloys for my MK4 SXI (01 plate) i have found a set in the demon tweeks catalogue for around £700 with tyres.............

    here comes the question!...............

will these just fit straight on? the car is lowered 40mm on spax shocks and springs the tyre size on the wheels in the book are 205/40's didnt know if it was as simple as buy..........and put on.............and drive? demon tweeks have said that they come ballanced and ready to go but i just feel like im missing somin? is there any fin else i need to do

In the world of modification nothing is ever straight foward!!

Jessie what your missing is the offset and how many studs. I'd hazzard a guess at 4 stud and you'll need to make sure they are the correct offset. I'm sorry but I don't know what that is but if you do a search for the word offset I'm sure you'll be greeted with plenty of posts and I'm sure your answers will lie within.

Really this should be something deamon tweeks could help you with TBH.

I would get them to fit 215/40/17 as fitted to standard 17" Vauxhall alloys You may need to pay a little extra for this.

It also depends very much on the ET offset, ideally needs to be as close to the standard Vauxhall offsets of ET48 but Vauxhall has varied offsets from ET41-49 If its ousdie this, you are likely to find it scrubs

Which rims you looking at...... Have you shopped around for a better price....?

have been looking at some team dynamics wheels, i like a couple of them, yes it is 4 stud and i have just looked throught the wheel gallery to get some sort of idea and all this offset stuff is a little confusing!!

some of the cars have an offset of 38 on 17's and others right up to 45? how do you know what is the right one for the car?

You want an offset as close to 45 as poss, so if they come in 4x100mm with a 45 ET, then they will be fine, even if the car is lowered.
