Thumbs Up Standard dump Valve question Darth Vader sounding?

Hi I am new to the turbo scene only had my first astra coupe turbo a week yesterday, My engine i believe is totally standard apart from a K&N Cone air Filter and a bailey Dump Valve. after reading several posts on here it seems that vauxhall already fit a dump valve as standard to the car so where would that be as i have looked for another one but cannot find one? also i understand that the dumpvalve goes off and can hear it clearly at around 3'000rpm or higher (high pitch woosh) but if i change gear at low revs even at 1500 rpm the engine sounds a bit like darth vader (deep fairly Quiet woosh noise) is this normal or is it because of the K&N Cone or standard Dump Valve or am i just totally missing the point of everything.

    regards Mike

I think the noise you are referring to when changing gear etc and low revs is the Cone air filter. They do give the best noise and thats what your hearing at low revs more than likely. If the car drives ok and is quick then i dont think theres anything wrong.

With regards to the dump valve, yes the z20let engine which you have has a dump valve already but its a recirculating one and is found as far i know on the turbo itself.

the stanard dump valve is under the black cap on the side on the turbo with the black pipe going to it and the sound you are hearing at low revs is the wastegate chatter as you let off the revs.

I reckon the chatter is better than the dumpvalve noise

I agree the wastegate noise is far better than the dump valve.
