    Ive got my MOT looming....

Nearly time for the first MOT with the engine in it

Few questions.... will the abs and tc lights fail me?
will the clicking of the airbag sender unit on the steering wheel effect anything?
will the engine size be recorded on the dvla computers and certificate? as my parents dont know ive done it and want to keep it hush hush (ive told the dvla and insurance etc before anyone comments!)

    thanks Andy

ABS lights can be a fail - it indicates a fault with the ABS, which could potentially be lethal.

Airbag clicking - should'nt think it would be a problem - unless it goes off in the testers face !

I'm pretty certain the ABS and TC lights will be a fail. As far as the testers are concerned your ABS doesn't work this could potentially make the car unsafe in an emergency stop situation. (we know its probably the AFM but testers won't care).

I'm pretty sure it states what engine is on there. You'd also better check it says the correct engine as I'm sure your 2.0turb will kick out more CO2 than a 1.6 would. But then again I don't know if theres differing bands for your engine size or just 1 scale fits all (if yer with me).

Just make sure all the other things are perfect before you take it in. IE fluids ect. If it looks looked after and you explain about the ABS and TC lights are just a warning the AFM is buggered then they may let it slide depending on how nice they are. However it is their jobs on the line IF you were a mystery customer.

Can't you go and get a pre-mot? Or just jump round there and ask them if the various bits and bobs would be a fail?

the tc and abs light are on due to not having a wire run from the loom at the front to the rear axle, will get regal to sort that soon as ive had some hairy moments!

oh im pretty sure the airbag wont go off as the airbag light is also on, on the dash, but airbags are secondary safety measures so dont need to be tested. also my cooling fans kick in, but that cant be a fail either (i hope)
