    intermittent starting problem

Hi all, my 2002Gsi has been playing up this week, twice. After 2 relatively short journeys (2/3 miles) it failed to start, it will turn over but but it wont fire up. However it does fire up after 10/15 minutes. I almost flattened the battery tonight trying to get her going, then suddenly it fires up.
Could it be a faulty immobiliser ( i say this because the alarm sounded a couple of times whilst trying to start it tonight)
Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Cheers

I have noticed that the lights do flicker slightly at low revs, its going in for a diagnostic tommorow to see if any codes have been stored. Hopefully that might find the problem.
    Thanks for the reply

Could be your alternator, if this is what the garage diagnoses, ask them to check the regulator module and brushes on the alternator itself as it may well be just these parts rather than the entire alternator.

Happened on my GSi twice when it was new. Turned out to be the plugs that VX were supplying were the wrong type. They have a service bulletin about it
