    Digital SLR's

Anyone here into phorography? I want a DSLR or similar but im looking for second hand as theyre way too much new considering i may get bored of it.
Anyone got any advice or suggestions. Nikon D50's seem popular but some alternatives would be good.
I want to be able to mess about with lenses etc aswell.
Also, what is the main advantage and features of an SLR over a regular digi camera?

    cheers, tom.

Ive just started taking interest in photography, so I went out and purchased a Canon 350D DSLR. They are expensive, but once you have seen the quality of the pictures, you would say to yourself why did I buy a normal digital camera. However, like you said you need to be pretty serious about it then it would be worth going for a DSLR, but it really depends on what you mainly will use it for. The D50 is a good camera as a mate at work has one and the quality is superb.

Advantages - quality pics, zoom in a lot lot further than normal digital cameras, adjust the camera settings on how you want to, can take pics on fully auto mode or manual....list goes on

Lets see a normal digital camera produce something like this

I have the Nikon D50, and I am really impressed with its capabilities. quality of photographs are superb, have found it pretty to use, although there is still alot I don't know about it yet and what other functions do what. My Dad has the Canon 350D, and the D50 is lighter than that.

I agree with Al, the DSLRs are far superior than normal digital camera's, but then, that is what you pay the extra money for, and in my opinion, is well worth every penny.

Few photos taken on mine from earlier in the year....
