    Broken seat pull!!

    Hi,
Has anyone repaired theres before? it's a mk4 3dr with no passenger airbag. i've been told that the seat needs to come out and the back of the seat needs to come off to get to it. Is this right? dont want to set about doing it and taking something off that didnt need to come off.

    Thanks, Pete

I had to do one on my sri, it took me about a hour and a half i guess and the seat stays in the car.

Take the head rest off and then pull the plastic tubes that the head rest goes into out. take off the seat pull and plastic surround. unclip the rear seat cover, take the lumbar support cog of then pull and slide the seat cover off and you can get to the cable.

    Do the reverse to refit.

I went & got this earlier from my local dealership, and their computers were down.. I thought they were going to overcharge me at first, but they hit me with a total bill of £4.58 inc VAT!!!

BUT, I now need to replace the plastic surround for the release handle, after a slight mishap involving bad floor placment & a size 12 boot!

Oh well, looks like the total repair is costing me more than £7.76 afterall

That's not bad then, did you give them that part number and that's the price and part they gave you? or did they find the part which you've got and i've got the wrong part? not started mine yet might tackle it tomorrow.

Nah, they found the part for me cos like a right plonker, I raced off to Vaux having seen your post & forgot to make a note of it

It could be the same part.. I'm guessing the guy made the price up, or looked it up wrong cos the computers were down (or atleast the pricing part was)

Give me a shout if you get stuck with it. I did mine today in about 30 mins (maybe even less) & didn't need to take the seat out. I'll PM my number incase you need it.
