    dual fitament brake light mk4

What should happen; When you have your lights on and press your brake, the rear lights glow more brightly.

What happens to me; when i press my brake light, my drivers side bulb cuts out. The passenger side glows brightly.

It looks like an electrical issue but i cant figure it out. any help appreciated?

well the basics first, I take it you've replaced the bulbs?? you sure you got the drivers one the right way round? because the pins are offset iirc!

It could be something as simple as the bulbs in the wrong way round as said above or maybe a earthing fault

Check the bulbs are in the right way round ans that all the terminals are clean on both the bulb and connector that plugs into the light cluster

    Are they standard light units?

changed the bulbs, fitted them in the correct way. clusters are correctly fitted. Its worked ok for a few yrs. I recon its an earthing issue but the wires all seem correct. They are the non standard jewel clusters. If i disconnect and reconnect they work ok for a while then mess up.

Sounds like the connectors may have slight corrosion on them that gets clean temporally when you unplug/plug them
