    custom sub boxes

after attempting one a while back i didnt like it so i started another one today

basically i have a 10" sub and want it in me boot but without taking up any space or not much.

along the same lines as the 1st one i did, i am moulding it into the side of the car using fibreglass to get the shape then MDF the front and cut whole, hey presto

but is there a certain size they need to be so the sub can work properly?
or is it best to be as compact as you can ?
is it best to port it ?

any help apprieciated as its underway at the mo

Most subs have an 'optimum volume' for enclosures. It will not sound bad, just not as good as it should if the size is wrong.

Check with the subs manufacturer to see what the recomended enclosure size is, then try to get as close to this volume as possible. A sealed box will always be smaller than a ported box, so try to work with it sealed if possible.

if you make the glass fiber bit make it the size you want then fill it full of water and mesure the amount of water if needed just keep adding fiber glass and shape it then measure again and keep going till a good compromise is made
