Drivers seat in a VXR, does you astra Mk5 drivers seat tilt and slide?

Are Vauxhall telling me a load of crap!!!

Since we picked up the new VXR a week and abit ago, the drivers seat didn't slide forward when you try and get in the back. So I thought faulty seat, Vauxhall have had the car today and have told me that it now doesnt slide forward as a safety measure, and only the passenger one slides.

    Is this true?

it just sounds a bit suspicious, they were on about people sliding it forward whilst the vehicle is moving yet I would be sat on the seat...so it wouldnt move far!!

they are correct, only the passenger seat slides forward and returns to its position to offlaod passengers, the driver seats does not have this function but can travel forward for driver set up only.

    Who can say?

It could be N Cap rating would be affected if it was able to slide.
    Possible wear problems.
Cost cutting (although I doubt this one)

It seems a bit rubbish that only 1 side can slide I must admit I wouldn't be very happy about it. Can't see it being difficult to modify it tho
    Its a jam thing

what i do is pull the seat foward so like tilted, push it foward to let passengers in whilst the seat is still leant foward, then push it back and push the seat back to normal position, otherwise it loses teh position.

Just been on the phone to customer services and the seat looses some of its strength by having the release mechanism apparently, so it looks like im going to be the driver from now on...don't want to be in the passenger seat!!!
