    Gunk and black stuff in water

    Well at the astra meet today i didnt get to take my car as black gunk and white gunk in the water tank, suspect head gaskett, its a 1.7 dti any other ideas just in case i miss something??

    sounds about wright, get your local garage to do a exhaust gas header test (on the header tank) which should only take a couple of minutes and cost hardly anything

    Yep, totally standard for the 1.7DTi. Ive yet to see one with more than 60k on the clock that hasnt got oil in the water.

    It'll run fine, just keep an eye on the oil level and be aware your heater may bung up with the oil.
