Smile got some bits done this weekend

Ok heres a before picture, altho it was taken a while ago.

This weekend, managed to remove the side skirts, (Cheers Geoff) and had them sprayed by a friend, hes not too bright so i'll let ya find the two faults.

Got them back yesterday afternoon and fitted them straight away.

then after asking on here about the roof rails, took them off and colour coded them myself.

mostly pleased with the results, skirts could of been a little better, may get some new ones in the near future .

Before anyone says anything i know of have destroyed the wheels, took some time to get used to the slight bend at which i live, no excuse i know .

    Things i'm hopin to do........

Wheels will be going to wheelworx very soon to be powder coated black. .

Bit you lot may be able to help me on, when i bought the wheels they were et38 . they are ok now but i'm wanting to lower the car by say 35-40mm would the wheels rub at all.

Hopefully if i can lower it, wanting a set of lowering springs for a 1.7td '98.

dont wanna change the whole suspension just yet until i know what i'm doing engine wise, would still like to lower it for now, see how it looks.

Also would like your opinions on front and rear lights, was considering going for Irmsher rear lamps with dark lenses and maybe tinting the fronts.

or maybe just gettin both sets standard and tinting them.

and yes i know its a diesel, but its a first car and its fun :P.

P.S Insurance for my first year of driving was £1900 on this 1.7td ls, just found out next year fully comp is only £680. then i'll start thinking about bigger and better cars

I do like to see a nice clean white car, and its always more satisfying when you've done (most of) the work yourself.

    Well done

ok lol stop with the opinions, i'm pretty happy with it, still some bits i wanna get rid of and get done.

anyone got any ideas to what i'd need to lower it, basically just changing the springs keeping in mind its a diesel. more like what to look for?

You can lower it on just springs (so long as you don't go lower than -40) and the shocks will still last a while, any lower than that and the handling will be shot to pieces, and the shocks will blow their seals in weeks/months.

    Car looks good btw.

The bitterness of poor quality is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

well if u zoom in on drivers side skirt at front on one of the pics,

the lad actually sprayed them with the jacking point covers still on

all the rest look ok, but that one all the paint cracked, i guess he bent the skirt slightly once it had dried and it all cracked.

prob would of been better to do it myself, did the bump strips door handles and roof rails myself
