    Computer help please

My computer keeps randomly restarting itself, and its got to the point where it happens at least once a day. I turned it on a few minutes ago and got on the internet then it froze and started making this really high pitch noise, which didnt stop until i switched it off about 30 seconds after it started, in case it exploded!

Does anyone know whats wrong with it, and if it can be fixed? Or has it just had it?

    Thanks for your help

It could be a number of things Han. Personally I'd start by taking the side of the case off and cleaning the fans inside. I'd also make sure any cards are inserted into the slots correctly by pushing down on them to make sure.

Then i'd restart and run antivirus / spyware scanners. See what happens from there on in.

In that case follow jams advice and keep an eye on it. Possibly overheating. Jam'll no doubt explain how to check CPU\MoBo temp through the BIOS if he deems necessary coz im off home now
    Good luck

Long beeping noises are usually RAM problems. At this stage i couldn't offer any further advise than I have given.

Give that a try Han if you get stuck phone me or pm me.

Thanks Lyts. I've taken down your number Jam incase you want to edit it out your post.

I'll clean the fans in a bit and let you know how I've got on.

Hardware devices that are not installed proeprly could cause this.

Alternativley! If it isn't a hardware problem it could be a virus, I once had the Sasser Worm and my computer kept randomly restarting.
