Post How many people have been told by Courtenay that their exhaust is too small?

Looking at some of the threads alot of people are being told by Courtenay that their exhaust is to blame for lower results.

I know this, because when I went they told me the same thing! The exhaust was too small. I changed the exhaust last week and have found it better, though needs another remap as it feels a bit out.

I'm not anoyed but why is this a common mistake?

Just going to run a pole for Courtenay customers who have been told this. Please vote as above.

i was - then i was told by regal it was not entirly true - the exhaust size explanation i was given was the join from a sports cat to the stainless system is where it steps down half an inch according to john which is where the loss would occur, whereas the miltek is consistent all the way through

courtenay est around 5bhp which is nothing really in my opinion on the road

Did regal explain why it wasn't entirely true?

Don’t be fooled into believing you need a full miltek most of our cars and the power they have are gained with a pre-cat, sports cat and good 63 or 70mm system
the above was in an email i recieved last week

Makes sense to me ... best advice is to do most mods before getting mapped.

The maps can them be tailored to the mods fitted.... and you will get a better result with more mods done.

I see! I am planning on getting the peco sports cat and outlet manifold combo and have an irmy backbox. Engine is z18xe Will I be ok with a remus centre section or similar or will the backbox be restrictive?

    Cheers!

I've changed my exhaust and feel the power has changed within the rev range!

    I did go from a 45mm to a 63.5mm!

Is there such a thing as not enough back pressure? My friend had a decat and straight through twin exhaust on a 1.8 Veccy and got 140BHP and 150pounds of torque ! With NO other Mods.
