    Labradoodle dogs

    Hi

has anyone had any experience with this cross breed of dogs?

apparently they were cross bred for people with allergies like my wife kirsteen

it is a cross between a normal poodle and a labrador

this means it usualy takes the size and looks of the lab with the coat of the poodle (which are ok with people with alergies)

anyway seen as we had to give up the cat due to the alergies we were thinking of buying one of these

    opinions please

    as pups

    as adluts

Oh be careful, cross breeds can suffer with problems, when a dog is bred as per breed standard, usually health checks are carried out before breeding takes place, when breeders cross dogs the relevant health checks are NOT carried out, they cross dogs give them a fancy name and charge over the normal price, another thing..... they can't guarantee what traits the puppy will take on, example..... it could have the dander from the Lab.
Why not go for a smaller breed, that does not have the possible allergy problem, or do you want a bigger dog ??

This is the same as the top gear dog we nearly bought a sprocker a cross between a springer and a cocker

cross breeds are less likely to have problems because they miss out on the inherant problems associated with each breed. we have a lhasa apso which is also a haired dog (doesnt malt, non allergenic) but she's 11" high. she's pedigree but has dodgy eye and belly button hernia. Also a heart murmur. She's lazy but loves going for walks etc. I presume a labradoodle will be fine if you want a big dog.

find someone with one first and see if she gets any allergic reactions from it. It's not fair on the dog or yourselves to get a dog only to find you can't have it.
