Hi all i have a 54 plate astra coupe 1.8 what model number is the engine?
Z18XE I'd have thought. considering the age of the vehicle - lift the bonneet and check on the cambelt plastic cover - there should be a sticker with a barcode and the relevant engine code.
mine has got the engine code stamped on the metal plate with vin number on it right next to the bonet catch on the cross member
learning the hard way
the metal plate isnt always there - especially on coupe models - theres a few owners on here that have coupes and the plate isnt there - dont worry about it is what i say. Obviously if theres other factors worrying u then maybe it could be something of concern but personally i say forget about it!
On coupes the plate is replaced with a sticker on the drivers door aperature

It's on the bellhousing flange, nearest you at the front of the engine
