    Question Precat mod

This may be a daft question, but, can you remove the precat, beat the living daylights out of the inside to remove the catalyst, and refit it, with the same results as buying a replacement pipe

    ZLET Engine I assume?

Its a fairly perilous route to the 'cat honeycomb' bit inside. The 2.2 ones can be stitch drilled but if you are willing to have a go, I would make sure you have a contingency plan just in case!!

Can't comment on other precats, but if it is the zlet one, you'll have a job to get into it to knock the honeycomb out, i just checked on my old one.

Also, the chamber where the honeycombs live i quite a bit larger than the general bore of the pipe and personally i wonder even if you do manage to remove all of the cat internals, it may upset the exhausts ability to extract the gases in good order.

I guess you're probably right, I'll stop being a grippy **** and buy the replacement pipe, once "she who must be obeyed" gives me the nod.

    cheers guys,

Oh and it is a Zlet,

I tried it and it's 'mission impossible', however...

I then took the aforementioned precat to my local powerflow dealer who constructed a mandrel bent precat with a 3" first bend tapering down to a 2.5" second bend. This, with the lambda sensor boss on it as well cost me the princely sum of £82.

The only downside was that they had to destroy my (admittedly knackered due to my attempts to strip it out) precat, but it was never going to go back on now, was it!!

Oh, and it was made by Custom Performance in Toft Newton in Lincolnshire (can't remember the phone number!)
