Either way is possible but remember if you fit a screen in the roof lining there is no way it will be removed again unless you sell the car with a large hole in it

get a stand alone screen and connect it straight to the games console that way you can remove the screen to stop it getting nicked and play games and dvd's.
    or get some sunvisor screens

see cruisingforpussy.com or co.uk (cant remember)(it's not rude) should give you some ideas

Absolute easiest way to do this is to change stereo to a dvd/screen unit.

Then you can keep your mfd in place.

ok thanks guys actually in the roof theres a cut out with a panel in which i can take out but im not to sure which way to go if i go for the indash one will it make the display in the dash and the steering wheel controls redundant.
main reason im going for a console so i can watch films and play games rather than just watch movies.

There was a guy with a mk5 who has moved the centre display to the roof panel, and put a colour screen in the dash...

although he had to make up wiring loom for it.

you can buy adaptors for the steering controls/mfd, depending on stereo manufactor! check out the makers home page, or any good audio store and they'll be able to tell you if the adaptor exsists for your car and head unit!

Remember if you go for a roof screen also you have to change the headunit anyway so you can get a aux input for the sound unless you use a fm modulator

TBH if your just after a quick easy fit a new headunit with fold out screen

You actually cannot buy adaptors for the MK5 for the MFD, only steering wheel controls. And of those only the Pioneer is resonable at around £50 all the other makes are around £200. See the Steering wheel control sticky for details.

This might change real soon as I am in discussions with a company about doing an all in one for steering wheel controls and MFD regardless of stereo make (well the main makes) as well as proper double din consoles. I think the sticking point at the mo is the volumes required, but discussions continue.
