    Problem identification? Engine Management light

Done a search etc etc, but not found what im looking for really.

Basically, drove my car this morning, all was fine, drove it about 4 hours later on, and the engine management light was on, i think it was this one anyway, looked like a rectangle looking orange one, middle one i think.

Anyway, parked up, turned ignition off then back on, but the light was still on..

any idea of any tests I can try to identify the problem, before i take it to vaux?

    Thanks

if it looks like the light above then it is one of your oxygen sensors that has failed, one is in the precat just after the turbo and the other is underneath just after the main cat. check the wiring for damage first but the sensors are prone to failing the fist one is 90 quid and the second 80 from the dealer, once fitted take the negative off the battery for bout half an hour and it will reset the ecu.

isnt that just the engine management light? it comes on for a million reasons, o2 sensor, afm, afm previously been unplugged :P weak mixture etc etc. it can also come on for no reason particularly, but sometimes goes off

this light on vauxhall is for exhaust emmisions, ie oxygen sensors, the engine mangament light is the amber triangle with a car and a spanner in it.

I think a few people (me included) have had this light come on and off for a bit (month or 2) then it just stays on. I fixed mine by changing my afm.
