Will these wheels fit a gsi??? Help!

    Hi all,

I am having my snowflakes refurbed on my gsi, so i am getting some wheels with tyres to go on the car whilst there away for 2 weeks.
I have been offered some 15 inch steel wheels 5 stud with legal tyres for £15.00 a wheel.

Will 15 inch wheels fit ok? with the big front discs and that on the GSi mk4??

Will it drive ok etc, with the diddy 15 inch wheels on, can it damage anything??? suspension etc?

Any help appreciated, dont wana buy em to find out they wont do the job.

    Thanks all

Yes 16's are the minimum size wheel to go over 308mm brakes

Again it depends on the actual shape of the wheel.

Difficult to explain, but the problem comes with the way the spokes curve back to meet the rest of the wheel.

On the wheel shown above the spoke goes almost stright into the rim, on the SRi 16's (split 5 spokes) the spoke curves back into the rim, so the spokes would hit on the caliper.

Try PM'ing OddJob, he has experience with many, many types and sizes of wheel, he should be able to tell you if they fit or come close.

Sorry to do a bit of a thread revival here folks, but this came up on a search and its pretty relevant. Ive just bought a set of 308 brakes for my car, full 5 stud conversion too So I was wondering, until I get a set of nice alloys to show these bad boys off, will 16" steel wheels fit? 'Cos I know the issue with alloys is that they curve round and might foul the caliper, but will steelies be the same? Cheers.
