    mpg after remap

i was recently considering a move to the dark side of a smelly oil burner, hawever after i was offered a measly 3500quid for my car i decided against it.

i drive 70 miles a day, mostly cruising, 70-80 and get 32mpg in return.

if i were to replace the turbo with a vxr unit and have it remapped what would be the effect on my fuel consumption, are the claims of increased mpg on motorways true?

my car has done 83000miles, original turbo, standard other than filter and veccy intake.
