Why not go for the plasma equivalent? At least 300 quid cheaper than the LCD!

Plasma's cant be regassed, but newer sets should last around 60,000 hours, i have no idea how they work that out though lol. The Toshiba 37" LCD has got some good reviews lately.

i read an article on the choice between plasmas and lcd tvs, they reckon for a big light room you should get a plasma( something about the black colours???)

also said about the 60000 hour thing and the plasma gasses are sealed in so they cant be regassed, they also say that a normal tv only has a life expectancy of 60000 hours as well.

will have a look at that toshiba

    cheers

Yeah plasmas are generally better at dark colours ie black's but not so good at lighter colours, on some cheaper sets white can look almost grey. The LCD's are better at lighter colours ie whites but again some cheaper ones have bad backlights that make blacks look blueish or you get an uneven colour on a dark screen. But there are some decent sets around, another to consider is the Philips 37" ambilight, its a very good set although a bit pricey.
