Help required - Coupe 3rd high level brake light.

Hey guys, was wondering if anyone could help me out with a quick question?

The 3rd level rear brake light in the bootlid of my astra coupe has a few lights blown in it. I couldn't find how to replace these mentioned anywhere, not in the handbook or anything, was wondering if anyone else had experienced the same thing? I dont even know whether they can be replaced from the outside or whether i would have to strip all the trim off the inside of the boot.

    Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It comes out from inside the boot - I think its a sealed unit, they do come apart cos some have fitted the clear lense from the veccy c too. Not sure if you have to buy a complete new unit

You need to remove the carpet trim thing on the boot lid and you will see the 2 nuts you need to undo to remove it.

And you cant replace just 1 led as they are sealed units

Sounds like a right pain to get into then. Great! How does the carpet trim in the boot come off? All i can see are little plastic discs and i dont know how they would come off.

Would this be covered under a fourth year extended warranty as surely the light unit should be expected not to fail?!

i had this problem so i went to vauxhall to find it cost about £40, so they told me. I decide to carefully open it up and ordered some LEDS from RS, and then solder them in. Its a bit tricky but i just couldn't afford £40 at the time. I think i may still have some of the LEDS, will have a look for you.

Thanks astracoupe16v. That would be good if u still had some floating about.

If not, does anyone know any good online breakers or discount 2nd hand parts suppliers for vauxhalls that might carry this sort of thing?
