    Spi To Mpi

ive seen at 1.6 8v mpi engine from an 53 astra.
i wountnt mind replacing my high milage 1.6 8v engine from my 1998 astra.
    will it swap straight over?
ie will everything fit straight over apart from the fuel rail and inle and ecu?
my 98 spi is 75bhp and the 53 mpi is 85bhp.

if so i would really be thinking about it.
    cheers

I am not sure if it will be a straigit swap, but to be honest, I dont think it would be worht the money for such a small increase in power.

IMO it would be better value for your money if you looked around for something like a 1.8 16v or if insurance allows, a 2l or even a turbo motor.

nope, the spi is throttle cable, the mpi is drive by wire, if your looking into an engine conversion, do a early 1.8 16v or 2.0 16v

Is there anything wrong with your engine at the moment?? If not just leave it IMHO.. If your engine is battered.. then find a replacement 1.6SPi block.

The Mk4 after June 2000 is very much different to your 98 model. You'd really need to get the whole 53-plate car to transfer bits like loom, throttle pedal, ECU, exhaust, airbox, etc.

Unless your X16SZR is shagged, it's not worth the bother.
