Astra G GSi Smoking Turbo seals??

fitted a courtenay precat replacement pipe last night and when i started it up there was blue smoke from the exhaust. first thoughts were turbo seals but it never smoked before the precat was fitted, coincidence?

anyway after a quick blast last night it went away but today everytime i let it idle it comes back so im guessin the seals are on there way out however it still drives fine and i was impressed with the difference the precat pipe made!

anyone else came accross any probs with removing the precat? or am i going to have to buy a vxr turbo

    cheers

    chris

edit: its a 53 plate with 42k on the clock and is otherwise standard apart from precat replacement, regal power pipe and bailey dump valve

perhaps there was oil residue on the inside of the Pre-cat and you are just burning it off?

Alright mate, i had i similar problem on my car, everytime i let it idle fow a few mins it would chuck blue smoke out the back, but it was due to the rocker cover gasket leaking. I had this replaced and it cured the problem.

With the precat pipe and reduced back pressure the seals are likly to leak a bit. The impeller shaft seals rely on a certain amount of back pressure to seal properly. I wouldn't worry too much about a dot of smoke, as long as its not like James Bonds get-away trick you should be alright.
