which braking set up would be best for zafira?

at title, just wondering which would be best out of standard size disc (280mm) with 4 pot calipers (was thinking from the reyland set up or a willwood caliper) or 308mm disc with standard caliper (with the larger bracket needed of coarse).

    cheers

depends on the application realy, if your gona use it for track day's then i'd say the 280's with 4 pots (308's would be better). i've not been unhappy with the 308's on my bus TBH, but think they are overdue for an upgrade. but then i have never been realy hard on them to the point of fade... it has never happned so far.

if you want mental appeal go for the VXR 321's with 4 pots

it would be for road use only, but i dont think the brakes are as good as my mk3 1.4 astra which i upgraded the brakes on that to the V6 set up from v-tuning which are 284mm (instead of 236mm) with calipers from a 2.5l vectra.

so althought the brakes are almost identical i think the sheer weight differance between astra/zafira is whats making me think/imagine they dont feel as rapid to stop.

anyone know which 4 pot caliper could take a disc size of 280mm as a minimum and can then be used on larger 308mm discs at a later date without any modification or is that too big a size differance for 1 caliper to adjust to?

A guy on the Z20LET forum has fitted some Porsche 2.5 Boxter 4 pots to his 308mm disc's and report that they are great

i was going to say, the zaf's are pretty heavy motors, and was gona say about the differences. if you want to gauge it, go outside and push a zaf for 10 feet on the flat

320's with 4pots stops it on the nose, but like pulling the front brake on a push bike, back end lifts.

Porsche calipers off eBay, around £200-£250 depending on condition and then you need to make a bracket, about £50-£70 if you pay an engineering firm. You can get 308mm drilled discs for about £130 on the net now, cheaper for solid ones.

I painted mine with red two pack caliper lacquer, done with a spray gun they look much like 996 calipers then. Even with stock spec pads these never fade, the ABS works fine and the discs are wearing really evenly, not ragged to death like the Turbo calipers and uprated pads do.
